Agency Policy Analysis and Consultation

  • Researching state's educator work force statistics and analyzing educator recruitment and retention policies and strategies
  • Implementing systemic reform initiatives and facilitating their support  throughout the Agency
  • Aligning course-based licensure regulations and procedures with performance-based expectations for educators across all levels of  licensure
  • Researching the impact of state reform initiatives on district, student, and educator performance
  • Assisting agencies in promoting, developing, and/or assessing public school/higher education/state agency collaboratives to improve K-12 student achievement

Educator, District/Building, and Student Accountability

  • Facilitating the development and assessment of knowledge and
    performance standards for K-12 students and educators
  • Researching the impact of professional development on educator and
    student performance
  • Developing standards for evaluating impact of professional development within district school improvement programs
  • Identifying the subject-matter and pedagogical knowledge for certification areas–from initial through continuing licensure
  • Determining the degree of correlation between state-adopted knowledge and performance standards and assessments (traditional and performance-based)
  • Designing performance-based educator preparation program approval
    processes, documentation (paper and electronic), site-visit protocols, and site team training

K-16 and Educator-Preparation Curriculum and Assessment

  • Identifying, implementing, and assessing strategies for teaching and assessing information literacy, higher-order thinking, critical-thinking, and problem-solving in K-12 and higher education classrooms
  • Creating statewide trainer cadres for disseminating curriculum and assessment best practices
  • Facilitating educator groups in writing curriculum aligned to standards and research-based "best practice"
