DISCIPLINE-BASED CURRICULUM
- Facilitated subject-area practitioner/teacher-educator writing teams in the
development of the Missouri Frameworks for Curriculum Development to support
the Show Me Standards (separate curriculum guides benchmarked at grades 3, 8,
and 10 for Communication Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts,
and Health/Physical Education).
- Provided curriculum and assessment consulting to the University of Missouri-
Columbia Instructional Materials Laboratory in the design and development of K-12,
grade-specific curriculum materials for all subject areas to provide two models for
school districts to emulate or purchase: one for discipline-based curriculum and
one for interdisciplinary-based curriculum; each model provides competency-based
scope and sequence, instructional activities and assessments, modifications/
adaptations for special needs students, materials, and extensions.
- Conducted workshops for many Missouri school districts in aligning their K-12
curricula to the state's Show Me student knowledge and performance standards.
INTERDISCIPLINARY CURRICULUM
- Authored a monograph (supporting theory, building & classroom implementation, and
assessment) on interdisciplinary teaching and assessment for inclusion in the
Missouri Frameworks for Curriculum Development; co-authored a more
comprehensive analysis of interdisciplinary curriculum, instruction, and assessment
for publication by the University of Missouri-Columbia Instructional Materials
Laboratory.
