Created and administered an instrument to a stratified sample of Missouri classroom
teachers to investigate, analyze, and report teachers' perceptions of the impact
of Professional Development on their classroom practices and their students'
performance; sub-sections analyze effectiveness of mentoring and other
teacher-assistance programs; theinstrument and methodology are replicable for
other states.

Conducted a comparative analysis of Missouri's subject-specific competencies for
beginning teachers and PRAXIS II (and older NTE) subject-area specialty tests to
determine the content validity of the knowledge testing component of Missouri's
competency-based educator licensure program; themethodology is replicable for
other states.

As part of a research team, conducted a five-year statistical analysis of Missouri's
teaching force; designed, administered, and analyzed a survey of Missouri
school district superintendents on their recent experiences with recruiting and
retaining qualified educators; facilitated a "blue-ribbon" task force of educators,
legislators, and business and philanthropic persons in the development of proposals
and recommendations for the State Board of Education and the Missouri legislature to
address educator recruitment and retention;instruments and methodology are
replicable for other states.

Science Foundation grant to the University of Missouri-Columbia to implement
inquiry-based (problems-based) instructional approaches in undergraduate science
instruction;instruments and methodology are replicable for other institutions.

Provided instrument design and program analysis/evaluation for an Eisenhower
Professional Development grant awarded to the University of Missouri-Columbia to
assist high school chemistry and physics teachers in designing inquiry-based science
activities using state-of-the-art scientific equipment;instruments and methodology
are replicable for other institutions.
